Gig Season.

I love this time of the year not because of all those nice coloured leaves and fireworks but this is when all the tour dates and tickets get released. I like being able to look through the listings of my local venues to find all my favorite bands have scheduled to play at them. Its nice to pick and choose my night out in advance and I've got a nice idea of what I'm doing til febuary.

So here's my plans for the next few months if you're at all interested in my life and some music if you're not.

17.11.2006: The Holloways - Barfly Birmingham. The Holloways - Generator
22.11.2006: Albert Hammond Jr - Birmingham Carling Academy 2. Albert Hammond Jr - Everyone Gets a Star
26.11.2006: Good Shoes - Birmingham Bar Academy. Good Shoes - In The City
30.11.2006: The Hot Puppies - Medicine Bar in The Custard Factory. The Hot Puppies - The Party

John Peel Day.

12th October 2006.

Radio 1 celebrate John Peel's last broadcast for the station before his death in 2004 by broadcasting live music from around the country and encouraging local bands and members of the public to put on gigs to celebrate the life of a very special DJ.

John Peel really was an amazing man with a phenomenal music taste and a passion for live music. He inspired masses of people without actually making his own music, something very few people in the world can say they've achieved. He lived a rich and full life and developed a wonderfully diverse music collection that i am proud to have had an insight to through his radio show. So thats why John Peel day is all about, celebrating live music as John Peel would of loved so I'm doing my bit to encourage you to go to a gig on the 12th of October and remember the great man with a great taste in music.

Autum.

They keep telling me summer is over and I think its about time I took notice. The leaves are starting to turn, theres a lot more rain about and it gets dark about 7 o'clock. It's sad but the shorts have to go back into storage and the leather jacket is out in force. I was reluctant to let go of this summer because it's just been so good! I've been really lucky this year especially with my music. I've seen some of my favourite bands live, discovered some great new artists and enjoyed some great not so new artists.

I think its safe to say The Pipettes had a big influence on my summer but i talk way too much about them and no-one listens so I'l tell you about my love for Jens Lekman instead.
He's a nice chap, he's sweedish and he sings nice songs and his album
"
Oh You're So Silent Jens" seemed to fit perfectly with my summer.

Karen O. I would.

Recently I've been quite obsessed with the Yeah yeah yeahs and Karen O in particular. So much so that I made this picture. I'm quite proud of it so i thought i'd put it on the internet.
And some music of course.
